A bonfire at the side of Loch Eil - the perfect night out.
When I started the Classic Course I never thought that I would get used to getting up at 6am for a run and a swim in the freezing cold loch, but when I got home I realised I missed it. I met so many people that I will never forget. I learned that if I can climb a mountain I can do anything. This was the adventure of a life time.

I love doing outdoor activities, and so I could hardly believe it when I was given this great opportunity to attend a Classic Course in July 2008 at the centre in Ullswater. I was very excited in the run-up to leaving, but also very nervous as I had not been able to go to the preparatory weekend, and the only person I knew was my friend who was going with me. I knew I suffered from a lack of confidence and I have some unusual fears, so I was anxious about how I would cope.
It exceeded all the expectations I had, and any nervous feelings quickly disappeared!
My instructor was the best I could ever ask for: I felt safe and secure with him and opened up to him without fear of being judged. The group I was in was amazing, and I have made many friends from around the world that I am still in contact with and am very close to. By the end of the three weeks, I knew that I had gained in self-confidence, improved my fitness and health, conquered some fears and made some incredible friends.
I am extremely grateful to soba and the sponsors who made it possible for me to take part in this life changing experience. I will never forget my time at Outward Bound and I have learned very valuable lessons that I will carry with me forever.
Thank you!

Taking part in the Outward Bound Classic Course is the best thing that I've ever done.
And I've done a lot, from sailing round Scotland to kayaking down some pretty crazy rivers, but Outward Bound was something else. Three weeks of pure adrenalin, and everyday was a test of physical and mental strength. Outward Bound matured me and showed me that if I want something, I can get it if I just try.
