soba depends largely on funds raised through donations, sponsorship, and fundraising events.

Raising the money

Each year in May, soba holds the Scottish Business Challenge at Loch Eil where teams of 5 from companies throughout Scotland compete for the Crystal Trophy. Entry fees bring in revenue. The Crystal Trophy is awarded at the Annual Awards Dinner which again is a fund raising event.

In 2006, The President’s Company was born. Individuals and Companies commit to sending a young person on a Classic Course each year for 5 years. The cost of this course is currently £1,200. The President's Company currently has 25 members and holds an annual dinner and a golf outing. Individuals and companies make donations from time to time eg Charles McCann flew a helicopter from USA to Scotland over the Arctic Circle and, from the money he raised, donated in excess of £20,000 to soba.

Income from Trusts is received from time to time and is an area for development.
