soba depends largely on funds raised through donations, sponsorship, and fundraising events.Raising the money Each year in May, soba holds the Scottish Business Challenge at Loch Eil where teams of 5 from companies throughout Scotland compete for the Crystal Trophy. Entry fees bring in revenue. The Crystal Trophy is awarded at the Annual Awards Dinner which again is a fund raising event. In 2006, The President’s Company was born. Individuals and Companies commit to sending a young person on a Classic Course each year for 5 years. The cost of this course is currently £1,200. The President's Company currently has 25 members and holds an annual dinner and a golf outing. Individuals and companies make donations from time to time eg Charles McCann flew a helicopter from USA to Scotland over the Arctic Circle and, from the money he raised, donated in excess of £20,000 to soba. Income from Trusts is received from time to time and is an area for development. |
