The Scottish Outward Bound Association has evolved from the Scottish
Association of Outward Bound Trust. Outward Bound Trust started life as
the Outward Bound Sea School (previously the Aberdovey Sailing School). The association was reformed in 1998, and is now run as a charity,
managed by a group of volunteers, with the specific target of
supporting disadvantaged communities and individuals, and opening up
the same challenging experiences to these young people as are
available to all young people across the country. The patron is HRH Prince Philip, KG KT, and the chairman is HRH Prince Andrew.
